Biography
Dr. Martin Magnus was married to Else Magnus, née Berent. They had a son, Gerd.
Records show that Dr. Magnus lived at Viktoria Strasse 5/7 from 1912 to 1928, at Viktoria Strasse 19 from 1929 to 1936, and on the same street renamed Leonoren Strasse from 1937, in Lankwitz. He ran a large doctor’s practice until 1938, when he was forced to move to Bozener Strasse 9 in Schöneberg.
In 1939, his son Gerd escaped to England aged 16 with a Kindertransport . Gerd changed his name to George Marlow and joined the British Army.
Dr. Magnus and his wife were deported to Auschwitz on 6 March 1943. Martin Magnus was murdered here on 21 March 1943. His wife’s date of death is not known.
