Biography
Farkas Sonnenwirth came from Großwardein, Hungary (today known as Oradea, Romania). We do not know when he came to Berlin. Before his deportation, the master shoemaker rented a small 5 sq meter room in the home of the Mr. and Mrs. Marcus, which was furnished with a bed and an old armoire. He paid 9 RM a month in rent.
On September 14, 1942, Farkas Sonnenwirth was deported to Theresienstadt on the 2nd Old Age transport. He was 77. Just one week later, on September 23, 1942, Farkas Sonnenwirth was murdered at this camp.
His only possessions, his two pieces of furniture, were sold by the authorities to a dealer located at Wilsnackerstraße. The value reported to the assets management department in Berlin-Brandenburg was 14 RM.
