Not much is known about Oskar Jungmann's life. He was born in Berlin on 14 May 1877. Before fleeing Germany, he was the owner of a cigar shop.
He was married to Selma Sobotker, who came from Hohensalza (now Inowroclaw) in the then province of Posen. Their daughter Gerda was born in 1913, and their son Hans in 1916. The family lived at Bochumer Straße 15 in Berlin-Moabit.
Hans Jungmann fled to Shanghai via Italy in 1938. His parents followed a year later.
After the war, Oskar and Selma Jungmann moved from Shanghai to Haifa, Israel where they lived for the rest of their lives. Oskar passed away of a heart attack on a visit to Cleveland to visit Hans and his family. He died on February 24, 1958.
