Hans-Heinz Hirschfeld

Hans-Heinz Hirschfeld was born on 19 July 1913 in Berlin, the son of Bruno Hirschfeld, a tradesman, and his wife Klara Hirschfeld, née Freund. From 15 August 1940 on, the 27-year old button-maker lived with his parents in two furnished attic rooms at Waldweg 19 (now Franziusweg 63) in Lichtenrade, district of Tempelhof, as subtenants of Johanna Maass (see Maass).
The Hirschfeld family was deported on 13 June 1942 on the 15th transport to Sobibor extermination camp in German-occupied Poland. At Lublin station, the transportees were put through a “selection” process. Subsequently, an unknown number of men aged between 15 and 50, including Hans-Heinz Hirschfeld, were sent to Majdanek extermination camp, in a southern district of the town of Lublin. Here, he was murdered on 17 September 1942.
